Broadband Wireless Access Subcommittee

1. Scope of Work

The Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) Subcommittee has been established so as to study technologies on broadband wireless access (BWA) systems and standardize their technical specifications as ARIB Standards.

Currently target systems are broadband wireless access systems in the 2.5 GHz band of which technical conditions have been studied by Telecommunications Council.


2. Formation (As of June 25 , 2021)

BWA Subcommittee consists of three working groups. They mainly assume a role in producing national standards for Mobile WiMAX, and XGP referring to relevant international standards.

Establish coordination framework with relevant international standardization bodies.

WiMAX WG

Develop and maintain ARIB standard for Mobile WiMAX system and to liaise with relevant international standard bodies.

XGP WG

Develop and maintain ARIB standard for XGP(eXtended Global Platform) system and to liaise with relevant international standardization body.
