Hitherto, the millimeter-wave radio equipment for video transmission was classified in the specified low power radio station. However, in accordance with the institutional improvement by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications the classification is modified to the low power data communication system with accompanying the revision of technical standard.

In response to this, this Standard shall be renamed from “Specified low power radio station” to “Low power data communication system”, and be revised with the necessary modifications corresponding to the related regulations.

This Standard specifies the radio equipment of the millimeter-wave video transmission which is occupied for sharing in the apartment house, etc. with using the radio wave of the millimeter-wave frequency band among the Specified Low Power Radio Stations defined in the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act Article 6 (Ministry notification No. 42 1989).

Regarding to the millimeter-wave specified low power radio stations, the regulation maintenance on the frequency band of 59~66 GHz was enforced in August 2000, however Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications made a partial amendment of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act with assigning the frequency bandwidth of 2 GHz extended to 57~66 GHz in September 2011.

In accordance with this regulation maintenance, this Standard is revised for the extension of employing frequency bandwidth to 57~66 GHz, etc. in Ver.3.0.
