Overview of ARIB Standards (STD-T106)

1. Overview

STD Number ARIB STD-T106
Standard Name 920MHz-Band RFID Equipment for Premises Radio Station and Land Mobile Radio Station
General Description

Among the premises radio stations defined in the Article 14 of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Law, this standard specifies on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) equipment that uses the frequency 916.7 MHz or more and 920.9 MHz or less specified in the Article 49-9, Clause 1 of the Ordinance Regulating Radio Equipment.
(This FRID refers to the identification of mobile objects that the radio equipment performs by receiving the radio wave emitted from a responder.)
And among the land mobile radio stations defined in the Article 4 of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Law, this standard also specifies on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) equipment that uses the frequency 916.7 MHz or more and 920.9 MHz or less specified in the Article 49-34, Clause 2 of the Ordinance Regulating Radio Equipment.

The target system is a high power passive tag system.
Although premises radio station is limited to use on the premises, land mobile stations can be used off the premises.

Note that this standard specifies the technical requirements of radio equipment comprising an interrogator, an antenna, and a responder, while it does not specify communication protocols between the interrogator and the responder (a standard for interoperability).

2. Amendment History

Ver. Amendment or Enactment Date Amendment summary

Its purpose is to respond to the development of a system by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications for various needs. As an example of needs, use handy type at off-premises and use in various applications such as outdoor events.

The technical standard of land mobile station (registered radio station, licensed radio station) added for frequency sharing is the same as premises radio station.
1.1 10.17.2017 This standard has been revised in response to the development of a system by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (to enable various uses of the 920 MHz band low power radio system and various equipment development). The type of radio wave was abolished.
