| General Description | In a broadcasting studio, it is a general practice that an HDTV-1125 signal is converted to an SDTV-525 signal (4:3 aspect ratio) for a program production use. The aspect ratio of an effective image of SDTV-525 output should be in the range from 12:9 to 16:9. Among aspect ratios for down-conversion, many broadcasting stations are in operation with 13:9 due to the fact that 13:9 has little influence of appearance on NTSC broadcasting. However, since the domain of the conversion image has not been specified, the use of the down converter of a different model has caused a positional displacement and a delicate change in size at top, bottom right and left on an SDTV video output down-converted from single HDTV video. Therefore, this technical report defines the domain of a conversion image for the purpose of keeping the compatibility of the output picture down-converted with 13:9 by different models. In addition, it defines the conversion to make the HDTV-1125 image with 13:9 aspect ratio, when the SDTV-525 signal (4:3 aspect ratio) is up-converted into the HDTV-1125 signal. |
