General Description	This standard specifies the structure in case of transmitting digital closed caption data for displaying on screen synchronizing picture in ancillary data packet form by using vertical ancillary data packets area in component bit serial interface for 525/60 television system and bit serial interface for 1125/60 HDTV system. This standard deals with extension of function for multi-language display, scrolling display, etc. which is prepared for digital broadcasting, and also shall be able to transmit conventional closed caption data for analog broadcasting. Also, Attachment recorded at the back of this standard (operational rules for digital closed caption) specifies operational rules for the superimposing method in case of transmitting digital closed caption provided in this standard, and the exchange between analog/digital closed caption data, and the exchange between HD/SD/cell-phone closed caption data, and so on.

2.6	07.27.2017	In order to implement 4K broadcasting in advanced wideband digital satellite broadcasting, it is specified that Bit-serial Digital Interface for 4K video is added and that digital subtitles (HD subtitles) can be superimposed by the interface.
2.5	07.03.2013	This is modified according to the repeal of “Closed Caption Data Conveyed by Ancillary Data Packets for Component Bit-serial Digital Interface of 525/60 and 1125/60 Television Systems” (ARIB STD-B27), the expression is reconsidered according to the closing of analog broadcasting, and this is also changed according to the record of the safety zone in “Safety Zone for 16:9 Aspect Ratio Television Systems” (ARIB TR-B4).
2.4	03.14.2006	This is clarified about transform of middle/small DRCS, handling of adaptation field when making PES data of closed caption to TS and so on.
2.3	09.29.2005	When transforming the closed caption for digital/analog to the closed caption for cell-phone, the guideline for transform of layout and so on is additionally provided.
2.2	03.24.2005	The provision on closed caption for cell-phone is modified in order to keep consistency with ARIB TR-B14,
2.1	09.28.2004	Provision on closed caption for cell-phone is added, and guideline is recorded about the operation method to operate closed caption of HD, SD, analog and cell-phone simultaneously, and mutual exchange of closed caption.
2.0	06.05.2003	(1) Change of the title: Because of recording “Operational rule for digital closed caption” as Attachment at the back of this standard, the title of this standard is changed as “Structure and Operation of Closed Caption Data conveyed by Ancillary Data Packet” (2) Addition of Attachment “Operational rule for digital closed caption”: From a viewpoint of the spread of closed caption, in order to make it possible for all broadcasters to operate in unification, operational method for operating closed caption of HD, SD, and analog during simulcast is provided. Also, for the sake of convenience in operating closed caption, “CCIS” (Convenience Control Information Support) identifier is provided for mutual exchange of closed caption and its operational guideline is recorded.
